- Total number of accidents up 3.1% on 2020, but lower than before the Covid-19 pandemic
- Seven people killed on average each day and 885 injured in road traffic in 2021
WIESBADEN – In 2021, 2,562 people were killed in road traffic accidents in Germany, which was a decrease of 157 people, or 5.8% on the previous year. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the number of people injured dropped by 1.3% to 323,129 on a year earlier. The number of people killed or injured in road traffic accidents thus decreased again, reaching its lowest level in more than 60 years. On average, roughly 6,300 traffic accidents per day were recorded by the police. 885 people were injured and 7 killed every day in those accidents.
