Press Building permits for dwellings issued in June 2022: -4.5% on the same month a year earlier

• Number of building permits for dwellings issued in the 1^st half of 2022 down 2.1% year on year
• Building permits for new construction in the 1^st half of 2022: -17.0% for single-family houses, +7.8% for multi-family houses

WIESBADEN – In June 2022, the construction of 30,425 dwellings was permitted in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decrease of 4.5%, or 1,419 building permits, on June 2021. In the first half of 2022, a total of 185,772 building permits for dwellings were issued, which was a decline of 2.1% compared with the same period a year earlier (first half of 2021: 189,781 building permits). The results include building permits for both dwellings in new buildings and new dwellings in existing buildings.
