- Number of building permits for dwellings issued from January to July 2022 down 2.1% compared with the same period a year earlier
- Building permits for new construction issued from January to July 2022: -16.1% for single-family houses, +7.1% for multi-family houses
WIESBADEN – In July 2022, the construction of 30,653 dwellings was permitted in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decrease of 2.2%, or 681 building permits, compared with July 2021. A total of 216,425 building permits for dwellings were thus issued from January to July 2022, which was a decline of 2.1%, or 4,690, compared with the same period a year earlier (January to July 2021: 221,115 building permits). The results include building permits for both dwellings in new buildings and new dwellings in existing buildings.
