- Time use survey provides important findings about the extent of unpaid work, among other things
- People aged 10 years or over keep a diary on their activities on three days
- Financial reward of at least 35 euros as a thank you for participation
WIESBADEN – How much time do people in Germany have for friends and family in addition to spending time on work, school or housework? How much time do men and women spend on care work, that is, unpaid work such as child care, housework, voluntary work or care of family members? Answers to the above and other questions are provided by the time use survey. Under the motto “Wo bleibt die Zeit?” (Where has time gone?), the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in cooperation with the statistical offices of the Länder, is conducting the time use survey until the end of 2022. Over 6,000 households have participated so far. Households with children in particular are still to be recruited for the next few months. They will receive a financial reward of at least 35 euros as a thank you for participation.
Interested households may register for the time use survey 2022 at www.zve2022.de/teilnahme (only in german). Based on a quota plan, a sample will be drawn from all registered households. This is done to obtain a realistic picture of the population structure.
