Retail turnover, August 2022 (provisional, calendar and seasonally adjusted)

WIESBADEN – According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the real (price-adjusted) turnover of retail enterprises in Germany was 1.3% lower, and the nominal (not price-adjusted) turnover was 0.1% higher in August 2022, on a calendar and seasonally adjusted basis, than in July 2022. Compared with August 2021, retail trade recorded a 4.3% decrease in turnover in real terms and a nominal increase of 5.4% in August 2022. The difference between the results in real and nominal terms reflects the high price increases in retail trade.
