WIESBADEN – The revenue of the overall public budgetincreased by 11.9% to 841.4 billion euros in the first half of 2022 compared with the first half of 2021. Expenditure declined slightly by 1.0% over that period, to 874.3 billion euros. These are provisional results of the core and extra budgets of the quarterly cash statistics. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was a cash deficit - as defined in public finance statistics - of 32.9 billion euros in the first half of 2022. In the first half of 2021, the financial deficit had amounted to 131.1 billion euros.
