WIESBADEN – Introducing an electricity price freeze, raising the children's allowance, one-off payments to students and pensioners and a higher housing allowance for more people entitled – the Federal Government has adopted a variety of measures as part of the third relief package. Especially people with medium and low income should benefit from them. Based on results of the survey of income and living conditions (EU-SILC) 2021, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that one fifth of the population in Germany had an annual equivalised net income of less than 16,300 euros at their disposal. The equivalised income is per capita income adjusted for savings achieved in multi-person households. The income reference year is the year preceding the survey. Two fifth (40%) of the population had an equivalised net income of less than 22,000 euros per year. On the other hand, two fifth (40%) of the population had an income of 28,400 euros or more.
