- Number of building permits for dwellings issued from January to September 2022 down 3.7% compared with the same period a year earlier
- Building permits for new construction issued from January to September 2022: -15.4% for single-family houses, +3.7% for multi-family houses
WIESBADEN – In September 2022, the construction of 27,449 dwellings was permitted in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decrease of 9.1%, or 2,742 building permits, compared with September 2021. The construction of a total 272,054 dwellings was permitted from January to September 2022. That was a decrease of 3.7%, or 10,366 dwellings, from the same period a year earlier (January to September 2021: 282,420). The results include building permits for both dwellings in new buildings and new dwellings in existing buildings.
