Press Sales accounted for 90.3% of exports in the period from January to September 2022

  • Purchases accounted for 85.9% of German imports; just 3.1% were imports for processing
  • In trade with Russia, nearly all exports (96.8%) and imports (97.7%) were sales and purchases, respectively

WIESBADEN – Exports of goods for treatment and further processing in foreign countries are of minor economic importance in Germany. Products sold abroad account for most of the exports of goods. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that 90.3% (1, 055.7 billion euros) of the goods Germany exported from January to September 2022 were sales. The value of goods exported for the purpose of processing under contract in foreign countries was just 11.2 billion euros. This represented 1.0% of Germany's total exports (1,168.8 billion euros). Goods exported following processing under contract in Germany accounted for 3.0% (35.4 billion euros).
