- Excessive working hours common mainly among executives and self-employed
WIESBADEN – Excessive working hours have an impact on the workload and the time remaining for the family and leisure. In 2021, it was common for 8.8% of the people in full-time employment to work more than 48 hours per week. This is regarded as excessive working hours. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that almost every other self-employed with employees (49.9%) worked excessive hours. On average, people in full-time employment from the age of 15 work 40.5 hours a week.
