WIESBADEN – In October 2022, a total of 255 people died in road traffic accidents in Germany. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a decline of 6 people on October 2021. The number of people injured however increased by about 800, or 2%, to roughly 33,200 in October 2022 from the same month a year earlier. Compared with October 2019, which was not affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, there were 21 fewer fatalities and 350 fewer persons injured (-1%).
