Dr. Ruth Brand has been inaugurated as President of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) today. The inauguration was performed by the Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser in an official ceremony in Wiesbaden.
WIESBADEN/BERLIN – Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser: “Statistics are indispensable for our democracy and for political decision-making. The data of the Federal Statistical Office are highly, and rightly, trusted because they are independent and quality-assured. The importance of reliable and, above all, up-to-date information becomes all the more evident in times of crisis, when the government has to take rapid and far-reaching decisions. Dr. Ruth Brand is an experienced statistician who has now returned to the Federal Statistical Office. She comes from the Office’s own ranks and had worked for the Federal Statistical Office for almost 20 years. She stands for great reliability, which has been an outstanding quality of the Federal Statistical Office for decades, and at the same time for more innovation and further digitalisation.”
