- Number of persons injured up 11% year on year
- Number of accidents recorded by the police up by 4%
WIESBADEN – In 2022, 2,782 people were killed in road traffic accidents in Germany. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 220, or 9%, on a year earlier (2,562 fatalities) and 9% less than in 2019, the year before the Covid-19 pandemic (3,046 fatalities). The number of persons injured rose by 11% to roughly 358,000 in 2022 compared with 2021. This was a 7% decrease on 2019 (384,230 persons injured).
