WIESBADEN – In 2022, the real (price adjusted) turnover of the service sector in Germany (not including financial and insurance activities) was 9.2% higher and the nominal (not price adjusted) turnover 14.4% higher than in 2021, according to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). In the first half of 2022, with the substantial easing of corona restrictions entering into force in Germany, real turnover increased by 11.4% on the first half of 2021. In the second half of 2022 it rose by 7.2% on the second half of 2021. This is the highest turnover seen since the beginning of the time series in 2015. Compared with the pre-Covid year of 2019, it was up by 3.7%.
