WIESBADEN – Producer prices of agricultural products were 25.4% higher in January 2023 than in January 2022. The year-on-year increase slowed for the fourth consecutive month, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). The year-on-year rate of change had been +29.8% in December 2022 and +31.9% in November 2022. Compared with December 2022, prices fell by 1.9%. The prices of plant products rose by +10.7% on the same month a year earlier, which was a smaller increase than that of animal products prices (+36.3%). In December 2022, the change rates had been +13.4% for plant products and +42.3% for animal products. Compared with the previous month, the prices of plant products were down by 2.1% and the prices of animal products by 1.6% in January 2023.
