WIESBADEN – Producer prices of agricultural products were 20.4% higher in February 2023 than in February 2022. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the year-on-year increase slowed for the fifth month in a row. The year-on-year rate of change had been +25.2% in January 2023 and +29.8% in December 2022. Compared with January 2023, prices fell by 0.7%. The prices of plant products rose by +6.8% on the same month a year earlier, which was a smaller increase than that of animal products prices (+30.5%). In January 2023, the change rates had been +10.7% for plant products and +36.0% for animal products. Compared with the previous month, the prices of plant products were down by 0.1% and the prices of animal products by 1.2% in February 2023.
