WIESBADEN – In February 2023, roughly 21,600 people were injured in road traffic accidents in Germany. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that their number increased by approximately 900, or 5%, compared with the same month of the previous year. The number of people killed in traffic accidents rose by 13 to 167 in February 2023. Compared with February 2020, the month before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Germany, the number of fatalities was down by 24 and that of persons injured by roughly 2,700 (-11%).
