WIESBADEN – In 2023, 1.02 million people died in Germany, according to provisional results of an ad hoc evaluation carried out by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). The number of deaths therefore decreased by 4%, or roughly 45,000, compared with the previous year. Death figures in December 2023 were 7% below the comparative figure of the four previous years.
