WIESBADEN – On a calendar and seasonally adjusted basis, German exports to countries outside the European Union (third countries) increased by 1.3% in January 2024 compared with December 2023. According to provisional data of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), Germany exported goods to the value of 58.9 billion euros to these countries in January 2024, after seasonal and calendar adjustment.

When not adjusted for calendar and seasonal effects, the value of goods exported to third countries in January 2024 amounted to 55.7 billion euros, according to provisional results. Compared with January 2023, exports rose by 1.4%. 

The United States continued to be the most important trading partner of Germany's exporters in January 2024. The value of the goods exported there was 11.9 billion euros. Exports to the United States therefore dropped by 1.8% compared with January 2023. Goods to the value of 7.7 billion euros were exported to the People's Republic of China, which was a year-on-year increase of 5.2%. Exports to the United Kingdom increased by 12.3% to 6.7 billion euros compared with the previous year.
