Wholesale selling prices, June 2025
+0.9% on the same month a year earlier
+0.2% on the previous month
WIESBADEN – In June 2025, the selling prices in wholesale trade were 0.9% higher than in June 2024. Compared with the same month a year earlier, the rate of change was +0.4% in May 2025, and +0.8% in April 2025. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that wholesale prices in June 2025 were up 0.2% on May 2025.
Higher prices for food, beverages and tobacco, non-ferrous ores, non-ferrous metals and non-ferrous semi-finished metal products
The main reason for the year-on-year increase in wholesale prices (total) in June 2025 were higher prices of food, beverages and tobacco, with prices up 4.2% from June 2024, on average. The wholesale prices particularly of coffee, tea, cocoa and spices were much higher than a year earlier (+26.2%), as were the prices of sugar, confectionery and bakery products (+18.2%). Milk, milk products, eggs, edible fats and oils (+8.8%) were also considerably more expensive than in the same month of the previous year.
The wholesale selling prices of non-ferrous ores, non-ferrous metals and non-ferrous semi-finished metal products also increased substantially compared with the same month a year earlier (+20.5%).
By contrast, the prices observed in the wholesale of solid fuels and mineral oil products were 5.9% lower than in June 2024.
Year on year, lower prices were also reported in the wholesale of waste and scrap (-6.1%), iron, steel and ferrous semi-finished metal products (-5.4%) and computers and peripheral equipment (-5.0%).
