The reading room area

In our reading room, we offer 12 workplaces to our visitors. There you may consult basic and standard literature (manuals, major textbooks, dictionaries, laws, etc.) arranged by subject groups.

In the reading room there are also:

• current issues of all subject-matter series (Fachserien) of the Federal Statistical Office (arranged by subject-matter series number)
• issues of periodicals of the current volume (in alphabetical order of the periodical’s title)

You will find there in particular:

current specialised periodicals arranged in alphabetical order: official journals of the Länder, The annals of statistics, Computational statistics, The Economist, International statistical review, Neue juristische Wochenschrift, Die öffentliche Verwaltung, etc.

weekly and monthly magazines: Spiegel, Focus, Focus Money, Capital, Manager, Finanztest, Test, Ökotest, Euro, PC-Magazin, Wirtschaftswoche, etc.

Daily newspapers: Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Frankfurter Rundschau, Die Welt, Tagesspiegel, TAZ, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, International Herald Tribune, Handelsblatt, Financial Times Deutschland, etc.

In the foyer of the reading room, two PCs on standing desks are at your disposal for doing research in online catalogues and databases. There you may also consult any online publications of the Federal Statistical Office.

Two other workstations are available on normal desks, and you may connect your notebook.

You can make photocopies in an adjoining room, where a photocopier with reduction and enlargement functions is available. Copyright provisions must be complied with.

You may also view and photocopy microforms such as microfiches and micro roll films using our reader printer.
