Press 1.9 million minimum wage jobs in April 2015

WIESBADEN – In April 2015, four months after the introduction of the statutory minimum wage, there were 1.9 million jobs in Germany for which workers were paid the statutory gross minimum wage of 8.50 euros per hour worked. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that 1.0 million jobs paid less than the hourly wage rate of 8.50 euros (excluding apprentices, trainees and people aged under 18 years). Before the introduction of the statutory minimum wage, this figure had been 4.0 million.
