Press Share of the population with tertiary qualification in engineering above OECD average in 2016

WIESBADEN – Most often, the population with a tertiary qualification in Germany in 2016 had a degree in the subject group of engineering, manufacturing and construction (26%). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this proportion was markedly higher than the OECD average (17%). The next highest proportions in Germany were recorded for qualifications in the subject groups of business, administration and law (22%) and education (15%). On an OECD average, business, administration and law was the most frequent subject group (23%), followed by engineering, manufacturing and construction (17%) and education (13%).
