Press release 442 / 2017-12-07: Number of traffic accident fatalities again expected to decline in 2017 - by roughly 1%

WIESBADEN – In 2017, the number of traffic accident fatalities in Germany is expected to reach the lowest level in the history of the Federal Republic. According to estimates of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) based on data available for the period January to September 2017, the number of traffic accident fatalities is expected to decrease by 1% to roughly 3,170. The number of persons injured in 2017 is expected to decline by 2% to approximately 390,000 compared with a year earlier.
