WIESBADEN – In 2017, just under 5.1 million people aged 15 to 74 years wanted to have a job or to work more hours, according to results of the labour force survey. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that their number fell by 373,000 (–6.9%) compared with the previous year.
The unused labour supply consisted of 1.6 million unemployed, 1.0 million people in the hidden labour force and a total of 2,4 million underemployed persons.
