WIESBADEN – The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) has published new country profiles of France and Croatia. Currently, France (65.2 million inhabitants) is the third largest country of the European Union after Germany and the United Kingdom. According to the United Nations projections (medium variant), the number of inhabitants of France is expected to increase by 8% to 70.6 million by 2050. Factors contributing to this development are annual surpluses of births and immigration.
