Press release 046 / 2019-02-08: Internal tourism 2018: overnight stays at record high for the ninth time in a row

WIESBADEN – In 2018 there were 477.6 million overnight stays of visitors from Germany and abroad in accommodation establishments. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 4% compared with 2017. For the ninth time in a row, the number of overnights was up and reached a new record high. The number of overnight stays of visitors from abroad rose 5% to 87.7 million in 2018 year on year, while those of visitors from Germany increased 4% to 389.9 million.
