Research Data Centre of the German Federal Statistical Office
The Research Data Centre
Since the introduction of the Research Data Centre (RDC) at 10/01/2001, scientists have the possibility to get regulated access to official statistical microdata. In the two years pilot phase the RDC has been financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science. After a successful evaluation in 2004, the Federal Ministry of Education and Science grant a further funding up to 2007.
The major goal of the RDCe is to facilitate access to microdata of official statistics for the scientific community by establishing various ways of data access. Besides the dissemination of standardized scientific use files the use of project-related anonymised microdata in data laboratories in all regional locations of the RDC or through remote execution is offered.
Regional locations of the RDC of the German Federal Statistical Office exist in Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, Bonn and Berlin.
In cooperation with the RDC of the statistical offices of the Länder, the RDC offers a broad range of services to the scientific community. Further information concerning the RDCs of the Federal Statistical Office and the statistical offices of the Länder, the available microdata, the ways of data access and contact persons can be found under: Research Data Centres of the Federal Statistical Office and the statistical offices of the Länder.
