International statistics Labour market participation: gender gap remains

Despite the gap narrowing, women are still less frequently in employment than men. Globally, in 2024, 46% of women in the 15+ age group were in employment compared to 70% of men. This corresponds to a gap of over 20 percentage points. In the G7 countries, the difference between the sexes is much smaller. In France it was 7 percentage points; in the United Kingdom and Canada 8 percentage points. In the United States and Germany it was 10 percentage points. In Japan and Italy the difference was considerably higher, at 16 and 17 percentage points.
