International statistics Labour market participation: Gender gap remains

Despite the gap narrowing, women are still less frequently in employment than men. Globally, in 2021, 43% of women in the 15+ age group were in employment compared to 67% of men. This corresponds to a gap of 24 percentage points. In the G7 countries the difference between the sexes is much smaller. In France it was 7, in Canada, the United Kingdom and Germany 8 percentage points respectively. In the United States it was 10 percentage points. In Italy and Japan the difference was considerably higher, at 17 percentage points respectively.
