The International Transport Forum (ITF) recorded fewer road deaths in 21 out of 34 countries surveyed in 2023 than in 2022. However, some countries recorded an increase, e.g. Germany (+2%), Ireland (+20%) and Lithuania (+33%). Traffic volumes in 2023 had not returned to pre-Covid levels, which is due to changes in mobility behavior.
