7.8 million hectoliters of wine must German winemakers harvested in 2024. The entire wine must harvest fell by 0.8 million hectoliters (- 9.7 %) in contrast to the previous year. Compared to the six-year average 2018 to 2023 (8.9 million hectoliters) the harvest was 1.1 million hectoliters lower, or 12.0 %.
5.5 million hectoliters (69.6 %) of the wine must harvest 2024 were white must and 2.4 million hectoliters (30.4 %) red must. The proportion of white must in the total harvest volume is distributed over the Riesling with 23.2 %, Müller-Thurgau 13.4 %, Grauer Burgunder 7.4 %, Weißer Burgunder 5.8 % and Grüner Silvaner 4.1 %. For the red varieties, the proportion of Blauer Spätburgunder was 8.9 %, Dornfelder 8.9 % and Blauer Portugieser 2.6 % of the total harvest.
