1 April 2021 Energy and water supply: number of persons employed up 2.4% at the end of 2020 year on year

Just under 260,000 people were employed in local units of energy and water supply in Germany at the end of 2020. This was an increase of 2.4% compared with the preceding year. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that most people were employed in electricity supply (just over 78%), while 11% worked in water supply. These results are based on data provided by local units in the energy and water supply sector with 20 or more persons employed.
