In reporting year 2021, the cross-sectoral business statistics were revised for the first time, which also has an impact on the statistics on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The main reason for this was that corrections of individual data in some basic statistics and adjustments to the calculation rules (gross value added at factor cost as well as turnover, gross operating surplus and production value) were necessary.
