Online trade turnover is highest for clothing (just under 10 billion euros), followed by other retail sale (7.4 billion euros) and computers and software (4.5 billion euros).

When looking at the proportions of online trade regarding the individual groups of goods, a different picture emerges. Online sales of clothing account for only 20.5% as the relevant retail sales in stores amounted to roughly 48 billion euros. Clothing thus ranks only 19th among the groups of goods with the highest percentages of online sales. Musical instruments and scores are at the top of this list with 58% of online sales, followed by music and video recordings at nearly 44%. Games and toys come third with 42% and books rank fourth at roughly 40%.
