27/01/2025 – In 2024, 66.2 billion cigarettes were taxed in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was an increase of 2.2 billion, or 3.5%, compared with 2023. Sales of cigars and cigarillos, too, were up by 0.2% to 2.3 billion. The quantity of fine cut tobacco taxed increased by 6.7% to 25,152.2 tonnes year on year.
