Interactive map on weekly deaths 2000-2020
Causes of deaths in March and April 2020
Using weekly data on deaths, Statistics Austria produced an interactive map to closely monitor the impact of COVID-19 on mortality figures. It presents data for 2000 to 2019 in comparison to preliminary data for 2020; Apart from the overall number of deaths of Austrian residents, age standardized death rates are presented. Data is available for Austria as a whole and on NUTS2 level. Preliminary data for 2020 is updated weekly during the ongoing Corona crisis. Every week, deaths for a new week are published; at the same time, results for previous weeks are revised.
In addition, Statistics Austria prepared a press release on causes of deaths during the COVID-19 lockdown.
