Eurostat press releases

GDP and employment both up by 0.2% in the euro area

Seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 0.2% in the euro area (EA-19) and by 0.3% in the EU-28 during the third quarter of 2018, compared with the previous quarter, according to an estimate published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. The number of persons employed increased by 0.2% in both the euro area and the EU-28 in the third quarter of 2018 compared with the previous quarter.

Record number of air passengers carried at more than 1 billion in 2017

In 2017, 1.043 billion passengers travelled by air in the European Union (EU), up by 7% compared with 2016 and by 39% compared with 2009. Over this period, air passenger transport has steadily risen in the European Union.
