Europe Not enough money to keep home heated in winter

The EU-SILC survey 2021 shows that 6.9% of the population in the European Union was financially not able to adequately heat their homes. This problem was most wide-spread in Bulgaria (23.7%), Lithuania (22.5%) and Cyprus (19.4%). Germany was below the EU average (3.2%). The least affected EU countries were Finland (1.3) followed by Sweden, Slovenia and Austria (each 1.7%).

Data as of 16.9.2022. The latest data can be found in the Eurostat Database. For Germany, the data for previous years is not comparable with the 2021 data due to a redesign of the EU-SILC survey in 2020. A detailed definition and further data on risk of poverty in Germany can be found on the national topic page.
