Which EU state has the highest birth rate? Where do people have the highest life expectancy? Which EU regions are particularly affected by population ageing? The section demography and migration offers data on fertility, mortality, migration, marriages, asylum applications and many other demographic issues in Europe.


The section health offers data on health expenditure, causes of death, health infrastructure, health status, health determinants, morbidity, disability and accidents at work in all EU Member States.

Education, culture

Educational achievement, expenditure and infrastructure are amongst the topics covered in section education, culture. Also included in this section are data on the Bologna process, vocational training, language skills, lifelong learning and student mobility.

Labour market

Data on employment, unemployment, working conditions, wages and earnings: Eurostat offers a very detailed range of statistics on the European labour market. The spectrum includes figures on topics such as self-employment and second jobs, full-time and part-time employment, retirement age and reconciling family and work, minimum wage and monthly earnings.

Social issues, living conditions

The section social issues, living conditions offers data about income, poverty and social exclusion in the European Union and its Member States. Other topics covered include social security expenditure, consumer expenditure, crime statistics and quality of life.
