Monthly distribution of fatal accidents

The monthly distribution of fatal traffic accidents differs depending on the mode of transport. Accidents involving pedestrians occur mainly in the darker seasons of the year, while accidents involving motorcyclists and cyclists peak during summer. Fatal car accidents are more or less evenly distributed throughout the year.

20,000 people were still killed on the roads across the EU in 2021, including more than 2,500 people in Germany alone.

Data as of 30.05.2023 taken from the "Cyclists Report/Dataset" of the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) of the EU Commission and Eurostat Database (Persons killed).
