Childlessness in Germany has not increased further

The increase in the final rate of childlessness in Germany has not continued in the last few years. Previously it had continuously increased and almost doubled from 11% for women born in 1937 to 21% for those born in 1967. On the occasion of the press conference on "childlessness, births and families" held on 26 July in Berlin, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that childlessness is now stabilising for women born in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The stabilisation of the rate of childlessness is not only a consequence of immigration; it is also observed for women born in Germany.
