Press Older people invest in mobility

WIESBADEN – The 65-plus generation is mobile until old age. To achieve this, they buy new products such as e-bikes and new cars. To coincide with the publication of the brochure „Older People in Germany and the EU“ (German-language version), the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that, in 2015, 7% of the households of older people had an e-bike, whereas the figure was just 3% in households of 18 to 64 year olds.
New cars, too, are more popular in the 65-plus generation than among younger people. 42% of older households had a new car, but only 32% of younger households.
