Press 9.6 million litres of liquid manure and slurry released in accidents in installations in 2015

WIESBADEN – In 2015, roughly 9.6 million litres of liquid manure, slurry, silage effluents and comparable substances produced in agriculture escaped into the environment in accidents that occurred in installations for the treatment of water hazardous substances. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of approximately 2.8 million litres, or 41%, compared with the previous year. The main cause of this type of accident was human error (60%).
