Press release No. 095 of 14 March 2017
WIESBADEN – Almost 12 billion eggs were produced in 2016 by holdings in Germany which had at least 3,000 places for laying hens. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this is a 1.5% increase on 2015.
7.6 billion eggs were produced by hens kept in barns which means that floor management accounts for the major part of the production (63.2%) and remains the prevailing form of hen keeping.
