WIESBADEN – Due to sunshine and spring temperatures, the 2017 asparagus season in many regions of Germany started earlier than in the previous year. Despite the later cold spell, the asparagus harvest will be good. Based on a first estimate of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the asparagus harvest is expected to yield approximately 127,800 tonnes in the whole of Germany. This is an increase of roughly 6% compared with the previous year.
