WIESBADEN – 1,536 people died in traffic accidents on German roads in the first six months of 2017. According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), this was an increase of 90 people, or 6.2%, on the first half of 2016. However, the number of persons injured was down 0.2% to roughly 183,900.
The year-on-year number of people who lost their lives in road traffic accidents was particularly high in June 2017. A total of 317 people died, which was an increase of 58, or 22.4%, on June 2016.
