Press 374.000 people received subsistence payments at the end of 2016

WIESBADEN – At the end of 2016, roughly 374,000 people in Germany received subsistence payments in accordance with the 3rd Chapter of the Twelfth Book of the Social Code (SGB XII on public assistance). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that 54% of them were men and 46% were women. 

Compared with the previous year, the number of recipients of subsistence payments decreased by 5.9% in 2016.
