WIESBADEN – Germany exported food and semi-luxury food to the value of 69.9 billion euros and imported such goods to the value of 81.2 billion euros in 2016. To coincide with the World Food Day on 16 October, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the exports of the food industry accounted for 5.8% of the total German exports and imports for 8.5% of the German imports.
