WIESBADEN - In the third quarter of 2016, just under 24,200 abortions were reported in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 0.2% compared with the same period a year earlier.
Nearly three quarters (72%) of the women who had an abortion in the third quarter of 2016 were aged between 18 and 34, 17% between 35 and 39 years. Roughly 8% of the women were 40 years or older.
