WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the quantity of cigarettes on which tax was paid in Germany increased by 7.2% in the third quarter of 2017 compared with the same quarter a year earlier. The total value of tobacco products in terms of retail prices on which tax was paid in Germany in the third quarter of 2017 amounted to 7.0 billion euros. That was an increase of 0.8 billion euros or 12.0% from the corresponding period of the preceding year.
